The Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries is in charge of the administration of the Department of Agriculture and Industries (Alabama Government Manual, 1990). This series consists of the Commissioner's Daily Reminder Engagement Books that document the daily meetings, commitments, and other activities of the Commissioner. Entries usually include the time of the meeting or activity, the person(s) with whom the Commissioner was to meet, the place of the meeting or activity, notes about the meeting, and comments about whether or not the Commissioner would accept or decline inviations to meetings or events. From 1983 to 1986, for easy desk reference, small spiral bound versions of the Commissioner's Daily Reminder Engagement Books were also kept that contain similar information as the larger bound books. Occasionally, however, the spiral bound books contain information that does not appear in the other books such as appointments cancelled or postponed to a later date. This series includes both sets of books.
